COLLECTION PROCEDURE
Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes along with Dog License Fees are to be collected by mail only. Personal checks, cashier's checks or money orders only. NO CASH ACCEPTED.
It will be necessary that you mail the stub only from tax statements with checks/money order. If you would like a receipt, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Tax payments can now be monitored at the Manitowoc County Treasurer's Real Estate Search website. Receipts are available for printing. Visit: https://ascent.co.manitowoc.wi.us/departments/treasurer/real-estate-search/
If licensing a dog (information below) at the time of tax payment, you may send one check for the combined tax amount and license fee. Licensing at the time of tax payment avoids possibly missing licensing deadline in April and will avoid a late charge.
If you wish to obtain a receipt with a date of December 31 or before, you must be sure to have the envelope with payment postmarked on or before December 31.
The USPS has changed how and when postmarks are applied to mailed items. Under the new policy, postmarks are no longer applied when your mail is first picked up. They are now added later at regional sorting centers. This means your envelope may receive a postmark several days after you place it in your mailbox. Payments mailed too close to the deadline could be marked late, even if you mailed them on time. Please mail early. You can ensure a same-day postmark by going to a USPS counter and specifically requested a hand-stamped cancellation. For a payment you want as a December 31 or earlier payment, the postmark must be December 31 or earlier without exception.
Checks should be made payable to Town of Gibson. Please endorse any checks from your mortgage company before mailing to me. An overpayment of less than $5.00 will not be refunded. Mail to:
Town of Gibson

First installment payment (or full payment if bill is less than $100.00) is due January 31. Second installment payment is due July 31, and payable to Manitowoc County Treasurer. Please note the new USPS postmark procedure above and mail early.
